Following in the footsteps of the late R. James Sr., Russ set out on his building crusades since he was old enough to hold a hammer. Russ's father had the most influence on the way Russ developed his talents:

"I was always amazed to see my father take a piece of raw wood and turn it into something of magnificence," says Russ.

His father would often say it's better to make one thing right than a hundred things wrong. Aside from ongoing renovation projects, they spent hours in the shop turning, chamfering, dadoing, carving, and sanding sticks of wood into lamps or furniture. When something is made correctly, it will last for a very long time and carry the history and life of its maker.

Deck1One can trace its history to the late 1980s when Russ James became firmly seated in Colorado. With extensivebuilding and construction experience carried through generations of practical applications and building methods, Russ set out on his quest to further expand on his experiences. The quest was realized with the founding of RJ Construction, a well-respected name in the building industry today.

After building several decks in the early 1980s, the referral work kept Russ and company busy for many years. It was Russ's customers who ultimately decided the path his business took and the services it would provide.

It was these experiences, combined with advanced building applications and product innovation and designs, that Deck1One rose to the forefront.

The company follows a strict policy of dedication and devotion to its customers and desire for personal and professional growth.
